Mr Lucky’s December 2010 Update

29 Dec

It’s that time of year again, and I would like to wish you all the very best for the year to come, I hope it brings all you have wished for… and not what you deserve….lol The shop at this time of year is starting to get really busy as the season begins here, and I have some really nice work lined up for the next few weeks, there are however openings and if you are wanting to be tattooed just give us a call on 2721 423 0688. If you are in the city, pop in and visit and have a cuppa tea, it’s always good to see you.

Onto my music feature of the month.

William Elliot Whitmore, I was told about this guy by Graham, a colleague in the shop. He had seen him, went to a venue, and this guy was hanging about chatting to everyone, then got on stage and Graham recalls thinking he was a roady, he then began singing. For me, that’s what I hear when listening to him… unassuming greatness. Born in 1978 in Iowa, Whitmore sounds like he must be 80 years old and reared on moonshine,, theres a knowledge and conviction in his voice that you cannot ignore. Whitmore is another of those amazing American story tellers, I’m reminded of such greats as Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie to mention a few. But enough of my harping on, take a look at this!!!!

Whitmore has released three albums I have been able to track down, there are however a few other recordings I have not been able to get my hands on, but Hymns For The Hopeless (2003), Songs Of The Blackbird (2006)  and Animals In The Dark (2009), he’s latest, are available and are a must.

Burlesque feature of the month.

Blaze Starr,

Another blazing redhead, Starr was made famous by her innovative and daring acts including undressing on an apparently burning sofa, and having a panther help strip her. When the panther died she decided she would instead imitate the animal and crawl around the stage on all fours herself, this got her arrested for obscenity in Philadelphia.

And finally my Pinup of the month is an all time favourite. Heidi Van Horn.

Shot here buy  David Perry

One more thing, keep a look out for the Jan feature as it will be covering the SIX 2011 Convention.
